Barbara has worked in the insurance industry for more than 25 years; her extensive background and experience includes underwriting management, sales leadership, marketing and operations both with insurers and brokers. She began her career in the UK with Sun Alliance Insurance, moving to Canada and taking on progressively more responsible roles before assuming her final position as VP Special Risks for Sun Alliance Canada. Barbara later joined CIBC as VP of Commercial Insurance then moved to Zurich Canada where she became SVP Sales & Distribution. She then ran brokerage operations at Canada Brokerlink and BFL Canada. Barbara was appointed CEO of DAS Canada in 2009.
In addition to her lengthy career experience, she is a Canadian Risk Manager and a Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional majoring in Underwriting.
Jas Basra, Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
Jas is a practicing member of both the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of BC. In addition, she is a qualified solicitor and remains a non-practicing member of the Law Society of England and Wales. A strong and active advocate for the legal profession, her committee work includes serving as an Executive Member of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, and past Vice President and Executive member of the South Asian Bar Association.
Jas had been working in the DAS United Kingdom office since 2006 before recently accepting the position of Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for DAS Canada.
Seval Turker, Vice President, Finance
Seval brings over 20 years of experience in financial management positions in the service sector, working in such areas as corporate development, claims, information technology and distribution. Her background includes holding several high profile positions at both Zurich Canada and ING Canada, and leading a Trust Accounting Group at a Toronto investment bank, before joining DAS Canada as the Vice President of Finance in 2009.
She completed her Bachelor of Business Management at Ryerson in 1985 and obtained her Certified Management Accountant designation in 1992.
Hans Boehler, Senior Manager, Marketing and Sales SupportHans has a deep and comprehensive knowledge in specialized legal protection insurance, having launched his career in DAS Germany more than 25 years ago. His experience includes sales, marketing, training and education. He left his most recent position at DAS Germany (Head of Sales Administration and Statistics) to focus his efforts on supporting the broker channel for DAS Canada.
Scott Crone, Regional Sales Manager, Ontario
Scott has worked in the insurance industry for over 12 years. Scott began his insurance career at Allstate Insurance selling auto, home and life insurance. Achieving recognition for sales success, Scott was promoted to Sales Training Manager, and later to Market Sales Management. Scott enjoys managing and mobilizing teams and resources to achieve objectives and success. Scott joined DAS in January of 2010.
Scott received his BA from York University and holds his Level II Life license.
Ilona Scott, Regional Sales Manager, Western Canada
Ilona hails from South Africa, where she has worked in legal expense insurance for 15 years. Ilona is a qualified attorney in South Africa with a post graduate degree in business leadership. She has contributed to areas such as claims, sales, product and services development and strategic planning & execution. She recently joined DAS and is responsible for sales and growth in Western Canada.
